As you may have already heard Lacrosse is starting up again in the province. Wheat City Lacrosse started up this week and they look like they are having a blast. The Manitoba Lacrosse Association (MLA) is putting on the Lax is Back camp in Winnipeg and it will be transitioning us through the first 2 phases of our Return to Play (RTP) Protocols.
Here is a few important points you need to know about phase 1 & 2 of our RTP
Athletes are to arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start of your practice
Athletes must self assess at home before attending practice and if you are feeling unwell please stay home
Athletes will be checked in and screened prior to every practice (simple questions that are being asked everywhere)
Athletes are to arrive ready to play (excluding helmets and gloves) there will be no change room access during these camps
Athletes must bring their own water in a labeled water bottle (bring lots it may get hot)
No spectators are allowed in the area of play during either phase 1 & 2 but we ask parents that wish to stay in their cars to be mindful of social distancing when visiting with other parents.
Phase 1 - (1st 2 weeks) there will be no contact of any kind and all activities will follow all social distancing rules
Phase 2 - (2nd 2 weeks) minimal contact is allowed with no more than 10 minutes of total contact time during the practice time
Athletes are asked to bring there own sticks but if you are unable to get one some will be available to use which will be sanitized before and after each session
Athletes have 10 minutes to leave the field of play following their practice
Those are just a few of the protocols we have put in place to allow us to return to lacrosse this summer.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Matt at the MLA at
Hope to see you all out in the next few weeks!
